If your main market in China and you want to avoid applying for an ICP license, Hong Kong is the best location, with fast response times to most cities in China. Being out of the great firewall, it will also ensure faster access from international visitors as compared to China servers.

Hosting in Korea is also getting quite popular for clients targeting the Chinese market. Korea has some of the fastest internet connections worldwide and sites hosted in Korea are quick to access from China particularly from Beijing and the Northern Chinese provinces.

Taiwan has direct cable connections to the mainland (Shanghai & Fujian province) and can be a suitable location to host websites targeting visitors located on the Eastern coastal cities in China.

Singapore is an Asian internet hub which is especially recommended if most of your site visitors are from South East Asia, Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

For websites with a global audience, but with a small portion of visitors from China or Asia, we usually recommend US servers, particularly on the West Coast (Los Angeles). US datacenters are considered the best in the world although connectivity from China through the great firewall is likely to be slower than Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea or Singapore.

European servers are slow to access to China so we do not recommend these locations unless you are targeting primarily an audience based in Europe.

Please note that all our shared hosting servers are accessible from China. Even if you host in the US or Europe, your site is still viewable from China. Our IP addresses are constantly monitored in order to take proper measures in case one of them happens to be blocked (which is very rare).
